ARE YOU AGED 16 TO 25?
As a Charity organisation whose aim is to promote the interests, wellbeing and quality of life for all people of Caribbean descent living in Enfield, one of our main priority is to improve the life chances of our young people. As such, it’s important that young people are involved and engaged with decision-making process of the ECA.
The ECA is interested in recruiting two young people between the ages of 16 – 25 to become members of their Executive Committee.
As a member of the Executive Committee you will have the opportunity to inform and influence the ECA’s decisions on matters that affect young people in the Borough. In addition, you will gain the opportunity to acquire additional experience and skills.
BECOME A CO-OPTED MEMBER
Your support will help us to establish brand new Respite facility in Enfield for the elderly Carribean and BME community.
The ECA is looking to recruit enthusiastic, reliable and committed co-opted members to serve on its Executive Committee, who will serve until the next ECA AGM in March 2015.
It is desirable, but not essential, for applicants to have expertise and background in finance, IT, PR, fundraising and organising events.
ECA MEMBERS' RECEIVE:
As part of the services it provides to the local community, the ECA runs a weekly Luncheon Club for elderly BME people in the borough; offers free advice, support and advocacy through our 'drop-in' service and runs exercise classes to help the elderly maintain their cardiovascular health, strength and flexibility and give advice on health, wellbeing and nutrition.
In addition, we hold an annual Black History Month event to celebrate the contributions that black people have made to the economic and cultural life of the UK. This year we are planning to hold two major events focusing on education and young people.
With your support we can continue to provide these vital services to the BME community and achieve our mission to make the ECA a strong, independent voice for equality and social justice in Enfield.
How you can help?
If you are a business committed to the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) you can be a sponsor for one or both of the events we are planning to hold this year. Please complete the form below stating how you can help.
We are planning to develop a register of people to act as befrienders to the BME elderly in the Borough. Volunteers will be required to visit isolated elderly BME people in their homes to encourage and support them for 1/2 hours per week.
All volunteers need to have a friendly and approachable manner and be empathetic to the needs of elderly BME people. No formal qualifications are needed for this role. However, volunteers will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) police check.
