A new children’s magazine for boys has been launched to tackle under-representation of black children in the media.

Serlina Boyd launched Cocoa Boy to celebrate black culture, having began another magazine, Cocoa Girl, earlier this year.

She told the BBC that there was not much choice for boys on the magazine newsstands. “Black children do not see themselves represented in the media. There’s a lot of negativity about black boys and we need to change that narrative, so that they can grow up and become successful.”

Serlina wanted to provide "an opportunity for other children to see that they can achieve what they want to achieve".
