Close
As a result of the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic crisis in the UK, we had to temporarily adjust our events and activities. We went digital with some activities such as the Windrush celebration. Introduced social distancing for our elders who exercised outdoor in parks in Enfield throughout the Summer.

Events

Luncheon and Social Club

After six months of forced closure due to the Covid crisis, the ECA’s luncheon club reopened on Friday 11th September. The next session is scheduled for Friday 23 October. The luncheon club now has a new venue, Green Towers Community Centre at Edmonton Green. But what’s on offer was just as good. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere, a hot two course Caribbean meal, refreshments, lots of conversation, friendship, friends and gentle exercise.

We are also organising an in-door exercise session at Green Towers. The exercise sessions are age appropriate, an hour long and meet the needs of all abilities and will comprise of seated exercises, chairs are supplied by the ECA trustees and volunteers.

To comply with all health guidelines a thorough risk assessment has been carried out and the luncheon club will be operating Covid-safe, with hand sanitising, face coverings and social distancing all compulsory.

A  delicious Caribbean meal will be served, there opportunities to socialise and make new friends.

This year, in partnership with Enfield council, we also plan to try some new activities to stimulate and interest our members, for example a walking group and visits to local places of interest.

We are however planning further exercise in the park sessions with our elders. The next one is scheduled on Friday 18 September at Pymmes Park at 10.15. Click here for more details.

Become a Volunteer

We are planning to develop a register of people to act as befrienders to the BME elderly in the Borough. Volunteers will be required to visit isolated elderly BME people in their homes to encourage and support them for 1/2 hours per week.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The corona virus has hit us all unexpectedly and has affected everything that we do. It has caused us to change our everyday habits and has led to isolation particularly for the elderly and vulnerable. We are working with StreetWatch Edmonton on a joint project called Together Our Community Survives (TOCS) to identify and deliver food to BAME and other ethnic groups. We are only accepting registration for volunteers at the moment. No new elders can be accommodated unless we have more volunteers. To volunteer an hour of your time, please contact Dionne on 07915 919524.
