Events

As a result of the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic crisis in the UK, we had to temporarily adjust our events and activities. We went digital with some activities such as the Windrush celebration. Introduced social distancing for our elders who exercised outdoor in parks in Enfield throughout the Summer. We have now restarted our Luncheon Club, respecting social distancing and operating Covid-safe best practices.

Enfield Caribbean Assocation has been following the guidance and  advice from national government and liaising with Enfield Council to plan our to Black History month celebrations.

ECA organised an evening of discussion, on Saturday 31 October at the Millfield Theatre. The evening explored the history of Black Activism in the UK.

Have a look at our Black History Month page for more details of the event or our news section for any updates to this event.

In the recent past, ECA has contributed to many local initiatives, including a campaign to mark the bicentenary of the 1807 Abolition of the North Atlantic Slave trade with the commemorative plaques now in place at Enfield Civic Centre, Edmonton Library and Community House, Enfield.

With your support we can continue to provide these vital services to the BME community and achieve our mission to make the ECA a strong, independent voice for equality and social justice in Enfield.

Become a Volunteer

We are planning to develop a register of people to act as befrienders to the BME elderly in the Borough. Volunteers will be required to visit isolated elderly BME people in their homes to encourage and support them for 1/2 hours per week.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The corona virus has hit us all unexpectedly and has affected everything that we do. It has caused us to change our everyday habits and has led to isolation particularly for the elderly and vulnerable. We are working with StreetWatch Edmonton on a joint project called Together Our Community Survives (TOCS) to identify and deliver food to BAME and other ethnic groups. We are only accepting registration for volunteers at the moment. No new elders can be accommodated unless we have more volunteers. To volunteer an hour of your time, please contact Dionne on 07915 919524.
